To strengthen the development of research partnerships between government agencies and industry, the government has set up a label "Carnot". This label is attributed to research structures that have a recognized scientific expertise and a portfolio of research partnerships contract. The Carnot Institute Energy Future is therefore part of French Carnot network.
The Carnot Institute Energy Future develops innovative solutions in the field of new energy technologies. To carry out its objectives:
The institute receives a funding from French National Agency Research (ANR). This funding is allocated to projects form laboratories of the institute, supporting selected basic research. The aim of this initiative is to enhance the expertise of the laboratories to transfer technology into innovative new products and systems.
It acts as an interface between labeled laboratories and industry. It provides professional collaborative work in the principles of the Charter Carnot. Finally, it ensures the optimization of transfer of knowledge and technology from research to industry.
The Carnot Energy Institute of the Future is composed by six partner institutions, which cover almost all research in the field of new energy technologies in Grenoble:
